The university seeks to provide practical solutions that enable mothers to balance academic responsibilities with childcare, ensuring equal opportunities and enhancing women’s participation in higher education. 3. Scope This policy applies to all student mothers enrolled at the University of Mosul, with priority given to those with infants or young children requiring care during lectures, examinations, and university-related activities. 4. Principles / Commitments Equity and Fairness : Safeguarding the rights of student mothers and removing barriers that may hinder their education. Safety and Quality : Ensuring childcare environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to children’s development. Flexibility and Support : Providing childcare services with flexible hours and affordable fees tailored to individual circumstances. Participation and Empowerment : Involving student mothers in the design and development of services to ensure their actual needs are met. 5. Procedures / Implementation Mechanisms Childcare Services : Establishing an on-campus childcare center equipped with qualified staff and compliant with national and international safety and quality standards. Operating Hours : Offering flexible schedules that cover lecture and exam times, with convenient drop-off and pick-up arrangements. Financial Support : Providing partial fee waivers or financial assistance to reduce the childcare cost burden. Lactation Facilities : Setting up dedicated breastfeeding rooms and comfortable rest areas for mothers near childcare facilities. Registration Process : Implementing a simple and fast registration system, prioritizing student mothers with the greatest need. 6.
