The College of Agriculture and Forestry was affiliated with the University of Baghdad from its foundation until April 1, 1967; on the same day the University of Mosul was established, the College of Agriculture and Forestry became one of its faculties. The College of Agriculture and Forestry is one of four colleges that have promised the basic building blocks of Mosul University. The study started at the College temporarily within the premises of other faculties of the University of Mosul, and it included three specializations in agricultural sciences: forestry, plant production, and animal production. In 1967, the College was moved from its temporary location at the University of Mosul to Hamam Al-Alil, about 25 km south of Mosul, where the central departments and laboratories were built. Experimental forests, plants, and animals were established. After the events of 2003, the College moved to its permanent location in Mosul, the cultural group on campus. The duration of the initial study is four years, after which the graduate is granted a bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences in many specializations. In addition, master’s and doctoral degrees are awarded in other disciplines. The first doctorate was awarded at the University of Mosul from the Field Crops Department in 1987.
