The lecture was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Nadhim Mohammed Ali (lecturer) and Pharmacist Dalal Al-Qadheli. It aimed to raise awareness among university students regarding the factors leading to suicide, highlighting its psychological, social, and environmental causes, while emphasizing the importance of early detection of these indicators and addressing them based on sound scientific principles. The lecture addressed multiple themes focusing on prevention strategies, including the enhancement of mental health concepts, the development of coping skills for life stressors, encouraging students to seek psychological support and specialized consultation when needed, and fostering a culture of mutual peer support within the university environment. The lecture also examined the ethical and religious dimensions associated with the sanctity of human life, affirming the inviolability of life and the necessity of protecting it, and emphasizing that such behaviors do not constitute real solutions to problems but rather exacerbate and complicate them. This event is part of the College of Pharmacy’s commitment to providing a supportive and safe educational environment that attends to students’ mental health and contributes to building a balanced personality capable of facing various challenges. This activity reflects the college’s dedication to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through promoting mental health awareness, and Goal 4 (Quality Education) by disseminating health and educational awareness within the academic community, thereby contributing to the development of a conscious and responsible generation.
