The Unit’s primary mission is to manage, facilitate, and implement the Erasmus+ & Horizon Europe programme for the university’s staff and students. Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme dedicated to supporting education, training, youth, and sport across Europe and beyond. https://www.eacea.ec.europa.eu/grants/2021-2027/erasmus_en Unit Objective Erasmus+ Unit is guided by a clear set of objectives, ensuring our activities strategically advance the University of Mosul’s mission for global outreach, academic distinction, and community development: Promote Learning Mobility & Global Experience: We actively support students, staff, and individuals in gaining invaluable experience abroad, primarily through International Credit Mobility (KA171) . This includes facilitating short-term exchanges, traineeships, and volunteering opportunities, providing direct pathways for skill development and personal growth on the international stage. Enhance Academic Excellence and Innovation: By engaging with programs like Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters and Jean Monnet Activities , we significantly improve academic quality. We ensure our students and staff are exposed to cutting-edge research methodologies, innovative teaching practices, and specialized academic content from partner institutions worldwide. Boost Cooperation and Institutional Capacity Building: Our unit actively champions collaboration between the University of Mosul and its EU and international counterparts through Capacity Building projects. This vital work focuses on sharing best practices, developing effective educational initiatives, and strengthening the structural capacity of local institutions in the fields of education, training, and youth. Cultivate Intercultural Understanding and Global Citizenship: We provide participants with direct exposure to diverse global cultures. By fostering an environment where different perspectives are appreciated, we promote greater intercultural understanding not only among those who travel but also within the broader university community upon their return. Build and Sustain International Networks: The Erasmus+ programs are a critical tool for establishing robust partnerships and networks with leading institutions abroad. We facilitate these connections to enable long-term collaborative research , joint academic projects, and shared platforms for knowledge exchange. Erasmus+ Incoming Mobility Erasmus+ Incoming Mobility Application Procedure University of Mosul – International Relations & Erasmus+ Office The University of Mosul (UoM) welcomes Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM – KA171) students and staff from EU partner universities with an active mobility agreement. Only participants officially nominated by their home university are eligible to apply for Erasmus+ mobility at the University of Mosul. 1. Nomination Process Partner universities must nominate their students or staff members before the application process begins. Nomination Email 📩 [email protected] Nomination Deadlines Students: 31 August – for the Autumn Semester or Full Academic Year Academic or Administrative Staff: Staff members should contact the host academic contact and coordinate mobility dates accordingly . (No fixed deadline — mobility should take place within the project implementation period .) The nomination email should include: Full name of the student/staff Field of study Study cycle ( Bachelor / Master / PhD ) – or type of activity for staff mobility Email address Period of mobility ( Autumn / Spring / Full Year ) 2. Application Procedure After partner universities select and nominate their students or staff members to participate in the programme and submit their nominations to the University of Mosul (UoM), the university will review the nominations to ensure they meet the academic and mobility requirements of the programme. Following this review, the University of Mosul will confirm the final acceptance of nominated participants and send them detailed instructions on how to complete the application process and submit the required documents. Application Period Full Academic Year & Autumn Semester: 21 September – 30 June 3. Course Catalogue Incoming Erasmus+ students may choose from English-taught courses offered by participating faculties at the University of Mosul. The University of Mosul is currently implementing the Bologna Process across its Science and Engineering faculties, introducing the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) to ensure international compatibility and transparent recognition of learning outcomes. Course selection and academic recognition are managed by the Academic Affairs Department at the University Presidency, in coordination with Bologna Process Units within each faculty. Students from partner universities who wish to explore available courses and their corresponding credits are encouraged to consult the relevant faculties and departments of the University of Mosul, where detailed information about programmes, modules, and study plans can be found. Required Documents Applicants must submit the following documents: Mandatory Documents Copy of passport Online Learning Agreement (OLA) signed by: the student the home university coordinator 5. Completing Your Application A complete Erasmus+ application to the University of Mosul includes: ✔️ Submitted online application form ✔️ Approved Online Learning Agreement (OLA) (signed by the student, home university coordinator, and later by the UoM Erasmus+ Coordinator) 6. Processing Time ⏳ Applications are processed within approximately 3 weeks after submission of all required documents. Erasmus+ mobility provides students and staff of the University of Mosul with valuable academic, professional, and cultural experience through temporary exchange at EU partner universities. For students, it enhances academic skills, language proficiency, intercultural competence, and employability, while for staff it supports professional development, capacity building, and the exchange of best practices in teaching, research, and administration. Eligible participants must be enrolled (students) or employed (staff) at UoM during the mobility period. 1. Eligibility & Available Opportunities Erasmus+ outbound mobilities are available only for students and staff from the University of Mosul whose departments have an active Erasmus+ KA171 agreement with a partner university abroad. Opportunities may include: Student Mobility for Studies Student Mobility for Traineeships Staff Mobility for Teaching Staff Mobility for Training 2. Application Process All outbound applicants must complete the official UoM Erasmus+ application procedure once a call for mobility is announced. Application Steps Check eligibility (see below in 5. Selection Criteria). Prepare required documents (see below). Submit application through the link provided below. Attend interview/selection meeting (In Erasmus+ Office – Presidency Building). Nomination by the University of Mosul to the partner university. Complete the Learning Agreement , Mobility Agreement , or Training Agreement , depending on mobility type. Application Periods 🗓 Outbound mobility calls are typically announced: October–December for Spring/Summer mobilities March–June for Autumn/Full-Year mobilities Exact dates vary depending on partner university deadlines. 3. Academic Recognition (Students Only) Outbound Erasmus+ students will receive full academic recognition for the credits completed abroad, according to the Bologna Process currently being implemented at UoM. The University of Mosul: Uses the ECTS system across Science and Engineering faculties. Ensures that Learning Agreements are approved before departure. Recognizes courses upon submission of the Transcript of Records from the host university. Manages recognition through the Students Affairs Department and the Bologna Process Units in each faculty. 📌 Note: ECTS recognition currently applies to all stages of students in Bologna-based faculties. Postgraduate students will be training (not studying). 4. Required Documents Applicants must prepare: For Students: ✔ Passport copy ✔ CV (Europass recommended) ✔ Motivation Letter ✔ Transcript of Records ✔ English proficiency proof (if required by host university) ✔ Learning Agreement (filled after nomination) For Staff: ✔ Passport copy ✔ CV ✔ Mobility Agreement for Teaching/Training ✔ Invitation or acceptance from host university (if required) 5. Selection Criteria Selection by the interviewing committee based on: Academic performance Motivation and relevance of mobility English Language competence (B2 and Above) Departmental recommendation Compatibility of study/training plan with the hosting university Priority may be given to: Students with fewer mobility opportunities Staff working in strategic fields of cooperation ⚠️ Important Note Applicants (both staff and students) must ensure that their major or department is available and compatible with the EU partner before submitting the application. Applications from non-matching disciplines will not be considered. 6. After Selection Selected applicants will: Selected applicants will be officially notified through their respective colleges Receive official nomination to the partner university Finalize Learning Agreements or Mobility Agreements Receive guidance on: Visa procedures Travel arrangements Grant documentation (See the fund breakdown here ) Accommodation information The Erasmus+ Office provides full support throughout the process. 7.
