It aims to ensure that academic and administrative processes are conducted in accordance with specific standards that guarantee the achievement of the desired educational and research outcomes. Quality assurance encompasses a set of policies and procedures concerned with the continuous evaluation and improvement of academic and administrative performance, thereby enhancing institutional efficiency, increasing the level of satisfaction among students and society, and strengthening competitiveness at both the national and international levels. The concept of quality assurance focuses on several key standards, most notably the quality of curricula, the competence of faculty members, the effectiveness of scientific research, the educational environment, and institutional governance. National and international accreditation and quality assurance bodies are regarded as important references in evaluating the performance of these institutions through the application of precise and objective standards. The adoption of quality assurance practices by higher education institutions positively reflects on their academic reputation and contributes to building the confidence of both local and international communities in their educational outcomes. It also enhances their ability to respond to labor market requirements and the challenges of sustainable development. The Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the University of Mosul is concerned with promoting a culture of quality and academic and administrative excellence within the university. This is achieved through developing performance evaluation mechanisms and monitoring the implementation of local and international academic accreditation standards. The department also works to ensure continuous improvement in the efficiency of academic and administrative programs through periodic reviews, data analysis, and the submission of recommendations that support informed decision-making aligned with the university’s vision and mission.
