In addition, it provides other services including maxillofacial prostheses such as artificial ocular, nasal and auricular restorations, obturators and feeding aid prostheses.  Faculty members contribute to research and community service while supporting students to gain hands-on experience in labs and clinics and to develop clinical competence and ethical professionalism. Clinics often support public health by serving local patients. The Department of Prosthodontics offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs and prepares students to manage complete and partial edentulism using comprehensive clinical and laboratory training. Therefore, graduates are equipped to rehabilitate patients and restore oral function. The curriculum integrates dental materials science, occlusion, and modern prosthodontic techniques, fostering both technical expertise and patient-centered care. The curriculum follows international standards and is taught in English. Vision: The Prosthodontic Department aspires to be a leading center in education, research, and community service. It aims to graduate highly skilled professionals in dental manufacturing and prosthetics. It upholds the highest ethical and scientific standards in practice. The department encourages continuous innovation and academic and clinical development and it seeks to contribute effectively to the advancement of dental sciences locally and internationally. Mission: The Department of Prosthodontics dedicates its efforts to the restoration and replacement of missing teeth and oral and maxillofacial structures. It plays a pivotal role in teaching and training students to rehabilitate patients suffering from partial or complete tooth loss, enabling them to participate in serving the community across all segments and age groups, including the elderly. In addition, the department supports scientific research and the preparation of professional and specialist dentists with advanced degrees in prosthodontics. Goals of Prosthodontic Department: Education & Training : Equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in fixed, removable, implant, and maxillofacial prosthodontics. Clinical Excellence : Ensure graduates can deliver high-quality, evidence-based care that restores oral function, esthetics, and patient comfort. Research & Innovation : Promote scholarly activity and research in prosthodontics to advance treatment techniques and materials. Professional Development : Prepare students for academic certification and lifelong learning through critical thinking and ethical practice. Community Service : Engage in outreach programs that provide medical care to the population and foster public health awareness. Academic Curriculum: Years 2 : Students begin with foundational courses such as Dental Materials and Removable Complete Dentures , including lab-based training. Years 3 : Students study Removable Partial Dentures , including lab-based training. Years 4 & 5 : Clinical training intensifies with hands-on experience in constructing various types of removable partial and complete dentures , under faculty supervision. Clinical & Laboratory Training: Specialized labs support fabrication of various prosthetic appliances. Students learn treatment planning, making impressions, registration of jaw relation , use of articulator , and construction of dentures and different prostheses. Clinics often provide free dental services to the local community, enhancing public health outreach. Faculty & Research: The department is staffed by experienced lecturers and professors who actively contribute to scientific research , conferences , and community service .
