Founded on July 14, 1959, it is the second-largest medical college in terms of age and capacity. In its first year, the Ministry of Health administered the college. In 1960, its administration was transferred to the University of Baghdad for seven consecutive years. On April 1, 1967, it became a college of the University of Mosul.
