Its campus spans more than 270 hectares, distributed across three university sites in the northern part of the city. These expansive grounds embody the University’s academic ambition and host a wide range of infrastructure that supports education, research, and student life. First Campus (Central University Campus I) Spanning nearly 253 hectares, this campus serves as the beating heart of the University of Mosul. It hosts a wide range of colleges—stretching from Medicine and Engineering to Arts and Islamic Sciences—bringing together theoretical and applied fields of knowledge within one integrated environment. Beyond its academic breadth, the campus is enriched with scientific, cultural, and athletic facilities that enhance the educational process and student life. Among its most notable landmarks are: The Central Library, which, after its reconstruction, has regained its role as a major intellectual landmark. Once home to rare encyclopedic collections, the library suffered extensive destruction during ISIS’s occupation but now stands revived as a beacon of knowledge. Cultural museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Folklore, and the Museum of Natural History, which together preserve heritage and foster cultural identity at the heart of the campus. Artistic and recreational venues, such as the Grand University Theater, the Student Center Theater, and the Puppet Theater, all of which bring vitality and creativity to student life. Sports facilities, including the University Stadium, the sports fields of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, an Olympic swimming pool, and the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall, promoting both physical and intellectual development. Community-oriented services, such as the University Nursery and Kindergarten, a Guest House, an IELTS International Testing Center, student dormitories, and shopping areas—forming an integrated infrastructure that supports the broader university community. An artificial lake at the heart of the campus, offering a refreshing natural element that complements both academic and recreational activities. Specialized teaching hospitals, including Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, along with modern storage facilities, reflecting the close link between research, medical practice, and community service. Second University Campus Located approximately 2 kilometers from the main campus, the Second University Campus covers an area of about 64,800 square meters (6.48 hectares). It is home to the Colleges of Fine Arts, Political Science, Law, and Basic Education, reflecting the University’s balanced commitment to the humanities, social sciences, and the arts within an integrated academic vision. Third University Campus III Situated on the far eastern side of the city, the Third University Campus covers an area of approximately 27,000 square meters (2.7 hectares). It is dedicated to the College of Medicine and its five buildings, providing a specialized and fully integrated environment for medical education and training.
